Our Partnerships

Asian Pacific Community Fund

Established in 1990, the Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF) is a network of community organizations focused on enhancing the lives of Asian Pacific Islanders throughout Los Angeles County. APCF is one of KAC's key community partners.

Intern

KAC accepts high school and college interns for the Fall (September to January) and Spring (February to June) and Summer (July to September) cycles. Interns have worked on a variety of projects for KAC, including the planning of our THINK (Topple Hunger in North Korea) Conference, our annual 4.29 Commemoration Event, and a social networking outreach and implementation plan. KAC staffers have also tailored individual projects to the intern's interests.

We request that all students agree to an 80-hour total commitment prior to beginning their internships.

Experience at KAC will give interns broad insight into the political process, the dynamics of the Korean American community, and, most likely, community organizing experience on a wide range of topics, from green space to North Korean human rights issues. Interns also often gain direct legislative advocacy experience, on the city, county, state, or federal levels.

We're currently seeking interns in these areas:

Community Advocacy
Interns will research, coordinate, and write reports concerning our various community advocacy initiatives. Advocacy priorities include redistricting, as well as voter registration and voter participation.

Development
Interns will assist the Development Director in coordinating fundraising and membership events and activities.

Census Information Center
Interns will work directly with ArcGIS software and US Census data to produce reports for KAC assessing changes in the Korean American population.

Design and Web
Interns will design a monthly newsletter that goes out to KAC members and friends of KAC all over the US. Interns will also work with the Outreach Coordinator to post regular updates to the KAC website, Facebook page and Twitter, and maintain the backend of the KAC website.

Interested candidates should contact esther@kacla.org with a resume articulating his or her skill set and interests.
